Discord roles
Sell access to part of your server. Buyers get a role; refunds take it back.
Setting it up
- Invite the Faerra bot to your server. Use the invite link on your integrations page. You need Manage Server permission on the Discord side.
- Make a role for your buyers — call it whatever you
like. Do not reuse
@everyone: everybody already has it, so it grants nothing. - Drag the Faerra bot's role above it in Server Settings → Roles. This one matters — see below.
- Copy the IDs. Turn on Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings → Advanced), then right-click your server and your role and choose Copy ID.
- Add a Discord role deliverable to your product and paste both IDs in. We check everything while you are looking at the form.
The role order rule
Discord will not let any bot hand out a role that sits at or above its own highest role. It is a safety rule and there is no way around it — without it, anyone who could invite a bot could make it an administrator.
So the Faerra bot's role has to sit above the role you are selling, in Server Settings → Roles. We check this when you save, and we will refuse the deliverable and tell you if it is wrong.
The one to watch for: if you reorder your roles later and move the bot down, deliveries start failing and nothing in Discord will tell you. Buyers show as waiting on their Discord connection. If several people report that at once, check your role order first.
What the buyer sees
When someone buys, we do not yet know their Discord account — a purchase gives us an email address and nothing else. So their access shows in their order portal as Connect Discord. One click, one Discord consent screen, and we add them to your server with the role.
They only ever do this once. If they buy something else of yours with a Discord role, they get it straight away.
Refunds and chargebacks
We remove the role. We do not remove them from your server — they may be in it for reasons that have nothing to do with what they bought, and throwing someone out of a community over a refund is not ours to do.
If you want them gone entirely, do it in Discord. As with everything else, a lost dispute revokes access the same way a refund does.
Where this is weaker than it looks
Anything they saw or downloaded while they had the role, they still have. Removing a role closes the door; it does not empty their pockets. That is true of every access-based product and worth knowing before you price one.
If you remove the Faerra bot from your server, we can no longer grant or revoke anything. Existing members keep whatever roles they already have.
